Who We Are

Reading Bridge is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education and literacy in San Francisco Bay Area.

Our mission is to ensure students across the San Francisco Bay Area can choose from new, diverse, and inclusive books regardless of socio-economic status.

Guiding Vision and Values

Diversity and Inclusivity – We guide children to books which speak to them. Reading Bridge seeks to expand the literary experience of young readers through the promotion of inclusive storytelling and a diverse pool of authors.

Education & Access – Stories are for everyone. Reading Bridge is dedicated to narrowing systemic gaps in education through our Bridge Fairs and partnering with other nonprofits. We strive to remove barriers to ensure every child goes home with a new book just for them.

Love of Reading – Instilling a love of reading gives children a head start in their overall development. Strong literacy expands vocabulary and builds self-confidence. Reading for pleasure drives creativity and enhances development of critical thinking and a variety of other life skills.

"The Reading Bridge brought a fantastic book fair to our middle school. Students, staff, and families were very excited about the selection of books available, and especially loved that each student received a free book of their choice! Working with The Reading Bridge staff was incredibly easy. They were knowledgeable, responsive, and eager to interact with students about the books. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you so much for putting new, interesting books into the hands of our middle school students! We hope to have you back next year."
